Full Moon in Scorpio - May 12th

Uh oh... it's Scorpio full moon time!

And I shouldn't say uh oh...but it IS one of the MOST INTENSE full moons of the year and rises on May 12th at 5:56pm AEST.

A full Moon in Scorpio tends to create a drive to dive into your feelings as deep as possible....You desire more meaningful emotional exchanges even if it is not easy and you are forced to change many things. Surface chat and meaningless exchanges will not satisfy you at all as you can only be bothered with the depths at the moment (no shallow swimming sorry!)

With this Full Moon we have a symbolic line up between the moon and Pluto, the ruling planet of Scorpio. It is because of this meeting that makes this Full Moon so powerful: the Moon aligns with an astrological emblem of CHANGE – Pluto – and under this influence, emotions grow deeper, heavier, and more super charged!

While last month’s Libra full moon had us focused on balance and connection, this month’s Scorpio full moon almost demands us to address and change all the things that have been fleeting feelings in the past...because they now are pushing to the surface and insisting that they need attention. The deeper stuff that we are too busy for or perhaps prefer to keep on the bottom of the emotional (pile due to not wanting to rock any boats!) are coming up for their air time!

How You May Feel Emotionally:

  • Heightened emotions and deep sensitivity – Scorpio energy is intense, so you may feel things more deeply than usual.

  • Old wounds or past emotional patterns resurfacing – this is an opportunity to acknowledge and release them.

  • Cravings for emotional truth – superficial interactions won’t cut it; you may yearn for depth, honesty, or even solitude.

  • A need for control or fear of letting go – Scorpio can stir power struggles or bring up fears around vulnerability and trust.

  • Increased intuition or psychic awareness – gut feelings and dreams may be especially strong or symbolic.

  • Feelings of transformation or rebirth – something may feel like it's ending, but it’s making space for something new.

Ways to Support Yourself

  • Create space for emotional release – journaling, crying, or having a deep talk can be very healing under this moon.

  • Let go of control – try surrendering to what’s unfolding rather than resisting change.

  • Engage in a ritual of release – write down what you want to let go of and burn it safely, or cleanse your space energetically.

  • Use water to support your emotions – take a bath, swim, or sit by water to connect with the Scorpio element and soothe your nervous system.

  • Use flower essences or emotional support remedies – like blends for grief, fear, letting go, or transformation.

  • Honour your boundaries – protect your energy and avoid emotionally draining interactions if possible.

  • Trust the process – know that emotional intensity is temporary and part of a deeper healing cycle.

Supporting Our Kids During this Full Moon

Our kids, especially sensitive ones, can feel the energetic pull of a Scorpio full moon too, even if they don’t have the language to express it. They may act out, withdraw, become clingy, or seem extra emotional or intense.

Here are some ways to support children (both young and older) during the Scorpio full moon on May 12th.

Supporting Young Children:

  • Offer extra cuddles and reassurance – they may be feeling unsettled or clingier than usual.

  • Allow big emotions to be expressed safely – let them cry, stomp, or express frustration without shutting it down.

  • Create calming routines with water – baths, water play, or even a warm foot soak can help them release tension.

  • Avoid overstimulation – keep things simple, quiet, and comforting in the home environment.

  • Use emotional support tools – flower essences like Help, Slow Down, or Sweet Dreams can be especially useful.

  • Name their feelings gently – help them identify what they’re feeling (“It sounds like you’re really frustrated or sad”) to build emotional awareness.

Supporting Older Kids and Teens:

  • Encourage journaling or private expression – they may want time to themselves to process intense feelings.
  • Create space for honest conversations – let them know it’s safe to talk about deep topics or worries.

  • Teach healthy emotional release tools – like breathwork, grounding, or creative expression through art or music.

  • Be patient with mood swings or emotional withdrawal – teens especially might need emotional space, but still want to feel supported.

  • Suggest gentle screen-free wind-down time – the Scorpio moon can make sleep elusive; help them regulate before bed.

  • Offer energetic supports – mists and blends, remedies like Grounding or Focus or more specific emotional blends like Teenager can help balance their moods.

Flower Essence blends to consider during this full moon:

🌸 Let It Go

🌸 Truth

🌸 Evolve

🌸 Grounding

🌸 Courage

🌸 Help

Go easy on yourself and others at the moment as BIG feelings can be uncomfortable and hard so gently, gently and enjoy the shifts that this new energy will bring you.

Happy Full Moon! ✨

Ps. It's definitely an advantage to live our lives with the knowledge that we are made up of energy and that everything around us is also made of energy.....and we need to remember that our emotions are also just energy!

E-motions (energy in motion) come and go and they can also be affected by what is going on around us energetically.

The full moon is one of those things that can greatly affect our energy/emotions as the fuller the moon, the greater the pull on the water in our body (just like the moon pulls the tides) and guess where our energy vibrations are most active? Within the water in our bodies!

We are made up of around 60% water so there can be a lot of emotional shifts going on during the lunar phases which are of course heightened when the moon is at its fullest. Just ask teachers, nurses and doctors how their shifts go around the full moon!

And depending on what time of the year it is and where the moon is in the sky, it can have an extra layer of specific energy that we can harness and use for our benefit.
