Full Moon in Sagittarius - May 12th
As the crispness of autumn settles in and we start reaching for the warm socks and cosy jumpers, we welcome May’s full moon — known as the Flower Moon — rising on May 12th at 5:56pm AEST.
In the Northern Hemisphere, this moon is named for the bloom of wildflowers — but here in Australia, we’re moving deeper into autumn. Think golden leaves crunching underfoot, hearty meals, and earlier sunsets that gently guide us inward. It’s a season for reflection, but thanks to this moon’s fiery Sagittarian energy, it’s also a time for curiosity, expansion, and optimism.
While last month’s Libra full moon had us focused on balance and connection, this month’s Sagittarius full moon encourages us to zoom out, dream big, and trust that change (even in small ways) is a beautiful thing.
It's definitely an advantage to live our lives with the knowledge that we are made up of energy and that everything around us is also made of energy.....and we need to remember that our emotions are also just energy!
E-motions (energy in motion) come and go and they can also be affected by what is going on around us energetically.
The full moon is one of those things that can greatly affect our energy/emotions as the fuller the moon, the greater the pull on the water in our body (just like the moon pulls the tides) and guess where our energy vibrations are most active? Within the water in our bodies!
We are made up of around 60% water so there can be a lot of emotional shifts going on during the lunar phases which are of course heightened when the moon is at its fullest. Just ask teachers, nurses and doctors how their shifts go around the full moon!
And depending on what time of the year it is and where the moon is in the sky, it can have an extra layer of specific energy that we can harness and use for our benefit.
What to expect from the Sagittarius Flower Moon
Sagittarius is ruled by fire — it’s bold, visionary, and always ready to explore something new. That might sound like strange energy to pair with a slower season like autumn, but it’s actually a beautiful combo: inner reflection and outward dreaming.
Seek out adventure (in small ways) – You don’t need to book a plane ticket, but even trying a new recipe, reading a new genre, or taking a different walking route can spark that Sagittarian thirst for something more.
Be curious – Ask yourself big questions: What do I want to learn? Where do I want to grow? What’s been feeling stagnant?
Let go of limiting beliefs – This full moon is a great time to release old stories you’ve been telling yourself (like “I’m not good at change” or “I don’t have time”). Make space for a more expansive mindset.
Look forward – Sag energy loves to plan, dream, and look ahead. Start journaling or vision-boarding what the next season of your life might hold.
Supporting kids during the Sagittarius full moon
Little ones may feel extra chatty, adventurous, or even a little stir-crazy under this full moon. Here's how to gently guide them:
Encourage curiosity – Explore a new topic together, read a book on space, or try a little backyard stargazing.
Channel the energy – Get outside if the weather allows — fresh air and movement can help them regulate big feelings.
Talk about dreams and goals – Even little kids love talking about what they want to be when they grow up. Let them share their ideas — no matter how big or silly they sound.
Ground their energy – Balance the fire of Sagittarius with earthy grounding — a warm bath, cuddles on the couch, or a calming bedtime routine.
Rituals to try under the Flower Moon in Sagittarius
Write a “Let It Go” list – What beliefs or habits are keeping you small? Write them down and release them — tear it up, burn it (safely), or bury it in the garden.
Take a moonlight walk – Let the moonlight guide you as you walk and reflect on where you’ve been and where you’re going.
Have a fire ceremony (even a candle counts) – Light a candle and speak your intentions or dreams aloud. Sagittarius loves spoken words and bold intentions.
Enjoy an emotional clearing bath – Add 20 drops of your favourite Naughty Naturopath Mum blends for a deep auric cleanse.
Dream big in your journal – Ask yourself: What lights me up? What do I want more of in life? Let the answers flow.
Flower Essence blends to consider during this full moon:
🌸 Let It Go
🌸 Self Love
🌸 Like a boss
🌸 Female
🌸 Manifest
🌸 Slow Down
Remember to also consider your usual full moon practices like charging crystals under the moonlight, spending time in nature to absorb the lunar energy, and journaling your thoughts and intentions.
This Flower Moon in Sagittarius reminds us that even in seasons of slowing down, we can still hold hope, curiosity, and excitement for what’s ahead. Be kind to yourself, honour the energy as it comes, and allow yourself to dream — even just a little.
Happy Full Moon! ✨
