Full Moon in Cancer - January 18th

It's definitely an advantage to live our lives with the knowledge that we are made up of energy and that everything around us is also made of energy.....and we need to remember that our emotions are also just energy! E-motions (energy in motion) come and go and they can also be affected by what is going on around us energetically. 
The full moon is one of those things that can greatly affect our energy/emotions as the fuller the moon, the greater the pull on the water in our body (just like the moon pulls the tides) and guess where our energy vibrations are most active? Within the water in our bodies! We are made up of around 60% water so there can be a lot of emotional shifts going on during the lunar phases which are of course heightened when the moon is at it's fullest. Just ask teachers, nurses and doctors how their shifts go around the full moon!
And depending on what time of the year it is and where the moon is in the sky, it can have an extra layer of specific energy that we can harness and use for our benefit. You don't have to be a Cancer to make use of this full moon energy as it affects all star signs, although those born under the Cancer sign may feel this energy a little more than others.

So what's happening energetically for us this full moon?

Our first full moon of the new year occurs in Cancer on January 18th here in Australia. Full moons are always a time of powerful manifesting, achieving our goals and releasing energy that we no longer want or need to carry over to the next month. And just as the full moon marks a completion or an ending to something....it is also the start of something new as the cycle begins again. This full moon also marks the beginning of the new lunar year - The Year of the Tiger.
This Cancer full moon energy:
  • Will be deeply emotional. Be prepared for tears but welcome them as they are much needed and will help so much
  • So much opportunity for a deep inner cleanse and releasing that emotional baggage
  • Very important to be practicing self care right now. Nurture yourself in any way that you know brings you some peace and a feeling of being looked after
  • Be very gentle with yourself and give yourself permission to have the space and the freedom to release whatever may come up
  • A great time to nurture your inner child to help you with your present emotions so do something that connects with who you used to be whether that be an activity you used to love or write your inner child a caring letter. Release whatever emotions come up 
  • As we are also in Mercury retrograde, things might feel confusing or you might notice plans and communications get mixed up, so again, be prepared for this and go gently on yourself and others
  • It is time more than ever to be still and not create too many things to do. Reflect, allow time and space to feel and heal. Remember, there is no healing without feeling!

Support for Kids

So the kids are going to be extra emotional too right now and as hard as it may feel to have everyone's emotions on the surface, just keep remembering that this is a necessary and important cleanse. 

Reassure them that it's ok to feel their feelings and even demonstrate this by sharing your thoughts and feelings with them. It's ok for them to see you cry and release just like they do and it can help normalise showing our feelings!

If you are seeing too many meltdowns due to the overwhelming emotions that might be being felt without knowing how to express them to shift them up and out, encourage your kids to safely let it out by writing their feelings down in a journal or draw their feelings. If there is an anger energy, get them to bash their pillow up or scream into them (or underwater if you have a pool!) as all this is a healthy way of moving that energy (emotion = energy in motion!) through the body when words and tears aren't enough

As always, be at the ready with understanding them, big hugs and lots of love and remind your child that emotions is just energy passing through the body like clouds across the sky and we just need to feel and acknowledge them all before they are able to move on.
