Full Moon in Aquarius - July 30th

The full moon rises in Aquarius in the early hours of Thursday 30 July — around 12.35am here on the east coast (WA, you get it late on the 29th). And loves, this one's got a bit of fire in its belly.

If you've never really “done” full moons before, here's the short version: a full moon is the big exhale of the lunar cycle. It's the moment everything that's been quietly building underneath the surface gets lit right up. It's culmination. It's clarity. And more than anything, it's about release — letting go of what you've been carrying that was never yours to carry in the first place.

This one's traditionally called the Buck Moon, named for the time of year deer start regrowing their antlers. I love that. Because to grow something new, they first had to shed the old. If that's not the whole vibe of this full moon, I don't know what is.

What Aquarius is all about

Aquarius is the zodiac's original free spirit. The one who does things her own way, colours outside the lines, and refuses to shrink herself to make everyone else comfortable. Aquarius energy is about authenticity, individuality, and the quiet rebellion of being unapologetically yourself.

Sounds like a tall order when you're 14 loads of washing deep and haven't finished a cup of tea while it's hot since 2019? Stay with me.

The bit where it gets deep (the planets this time)

Here's what makes this full moon a big one. It's not floating up there on its own — it's shoulder to shoulder with a whole cast of planets, and each one adds a layer:

  • The Sun sits opposite the Moon in Leo, and the Leo–Aquarius line is basically the “me vs we” axis. Leo says be seen, take up space, shine. Aquarius says belong — but don't you dare disappear into the group to do it. For us mums, that's the exact tug-of-war we live in: wanting to be part of the family, the school gate, the group chat, without losing the woman underneath the mum.
  • The Moon is sitting right beside Pluto, and Pluto doesn't do surface-level. It's the planet of the deep stuff — the buried feelings, the patterns we inherited and never actually chose. So don't be surprised if this full moon stirs the pot. Big feelings might bubble up seemingly out of nowhere. That's not you falling apart. That's you clearing house.
  • The good news: Jupiter has just swanned into Leo, and Jupiter is the “yes, more, go on” planet. It's throwing a door open and saying it's safe to be seen. It's safe to want more for yourself. You're allowed.
  • And the nodes (the cosmic sat-nav, for the astro nerds among us) have just shifted onto this same Leo–Aquarius axis, giving the whole thing a gentle nudge toward community, connection, and finding your people.

Translation: this is a full moon about being real. About dropping the performance of the “perfect” mum and letting yourself be the actual, whole, gloriously imperfect human you are.

How it might show up for you

You might feel a bit raw. A bit “why am I crying at the ad with the dog.” You might feel the sudden, fierce urge to stop doing something you've been doing purely because you're “supposed” to. You might get clarity on a resentment you've been quietly sitting on, or a version of yourself you've well and truly outgrown.

Let it come. This is the moon practically handing you permission to put something down.

How it might show up for the kids

Big feelings for the grown-ups usually means big feelings for the little ones too — they feel these shifts even more than we do. With all that Leo energy about, expect a lot of “LOOK AT ME, MUM”: the craving to be seen, the drama, the performance, the wobble when they don't feel special enough. And with Pluto stirring the pot, the meltdowns might run a little deeper and the power struggles might dig in a little harder than usual.

It's not naughtiness. It's big energy in a small body with no idea what to do with it. The most powerful thing you can offer is the thing that's hardest when you're completely touched out: calm. You don't have to fix the feeling. You just have to be the steady one in the room while it passes.

A little full moon reset (no crystals required — but of course they are always welcome!)

You don't need to do anything fancy. But if you'd like to actually work with this energy instead of white-knuckling through it, try this:

  • Grab two minutes and a scrap of paper. Write down one thing you're ready to stop carrying — a role, a resentment, an expectation, a story about yourself that just isn't true anymore.
  • Say it out loud if you're feeling brave: “I'm letting this go.”
  • Then do the very Aquarian thing and do one small thing your way this week. Skip the thing you don't want to do. Wear the thing. Say the no. Reclaim the ten minutes.

When you need a little help letting go

Some things we can put down on our own. Some feelings need a little support to loosen their grip — and that's exactly the kind of moment I made Let It Go for. It's one of my go-to's for those times when you're holding onto something heavy and you're ready to release it: the resentment, the frustration, the emotional load you've been quietly carrying. A few drops, a deep breath, and a small ritual of okay, I'm putting this down now.

Meet Let It Go →

Because this full moon isn't asking you to become someone new. It's asking you to let go of everything you're not — so there's room for the woman you actually are.

She's still in there. This is her moon.

Big love,
Alisha x
